Tandem Jump

Tandem Jump is the quickest and simplest way to make your first skydive. With this method, you will be attached to a certified tandem Instructor, who will be in control from the time you leave the airplane until you’re back on the ground. Tandem skydiving allows you to experience the free fall and canopy flight as a passenger, leaving most of the responsibility to the instructor.

What to expect:

After a brief introduction and a skydiving training class, you will be fitted with a parachute harness and interviewed for your video. Once in the air, your instructor will point out the various landmarks including Lake Ray Hubbard and the Dallas skyline while climbing up to 13,500 feet.

A few minutes before you jump, your tandem instructor secures your harness to their parachute, and they will review the ground training before opening the door. Once free of the aircraft, you will accelerate to 120 mph as you experience human flight for up to 50 seconds of free fall. At 5,500 feet the instructor will open the parachute and give you the opportunity to fly back to Dallas Skydive Center. You can choose between the calm sightseeing flight or the adrenaline-filled spiraling canopy ride that will put any roller coaster to shame!

Once on the ground, you will receive your First Tandem Jump Certificate, along with your purchased video and pictures so you can relive your experience over and over again.

Restrictions:

  • Must be over 18 with government issued photo ID – No exceptions, even with a note from your mom.
  • Maximum weight is 240lbs (male) and 220lbs (female). There is an additional fee of $35 for anyone over 200lbs. The weight limits are based solely on safety. As safety is our first priority, if you are over our maximum weight on the DSC scale YOU WILL NOT JUMP and there are NO REFUNDS for jumps unable to be completed due to your weight. In addition, if our instructors feel that your body shape or the way your weight is distributed on your body would put you at risk during the skydive, YOU WILL NOT JUMP. If the harness cannot be properly fitted to your body due to the distribution of your weight on your body, or your size or shape where the harness must be secured, YOU WILL NOT JUMP. Please see our FAQ section which describes why we have such strict restrictions as well as different restrictions on male/female weight.
  • You must be in a good health. Consult your physician if you have any reason to be concerned about your health before making a reservation with DSC.
  • You must complete and sign our release of liability waiver.

Planning and what to bring:

Skydiving is a weather-dependent activity. If you are unsure about the conditions, please call us for local weather updates. Please be aware that we must concern ourselves with weather and winds at 10,000 feet above ground level, not just the weather conditions you can experience on the ground. Therefore, the decision to jump when the weather is an issue is made by Dallas Skydive Center and its instructors and pilots. Plan to spend a half-day at Dallas Skydive Center and do not forget the following:

  • Government issued identification (No ID, No Jump)
  • Comfortable, closed toed shoes that will not fall off, and are without hooks (no hiking boots)
  • Weather appropriate clothing:
    • Summer: Shorts and T-shirts are just fine. If you choose to wear a tank top or sleeveless shirt, be aware that the harness may leave marks or “pinch” your skin around your shoulders.
    • Winter: Long pants, long sleeves, fleece or jacket and gloves. No parkas or ski jackets, please.
  • Skydiving is an adult playground, please no unattended children or pets.
  • We have vending machines and local restaurants close by, but feel free to bring a cooler. No alcohol is allowed until the last flight has landed, even if you’re not jumping.
  • Dallas Skydive Center is open for special occasions (work BBQ, charity events, wedding proposals, bachelor parties, etc.) please contact us for more information!
